Two Arrested For Vandalizing Disco Cables In Lagos

The Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), have arrested two suspects for allegedly vandalizing the Ikeja power distribution company cable at Oshodi area of Lagos State.

The suspects, identified as Remi Aina, 32, and Mayowa Adedoyin, 22, were apprehended by the anti-vandal team of the command on Friday last week.
According to the Commander of the NSCDC, Mr. Tajudeen Balogun , they were able to arrest the suspect with the support of some residents of the state, who gave them information about the vandals.
Balogun said the suspects went to vandalize the cable at around 2 a.m, when they thought most security agencies had gone to bed, but unknown to them, some sources in the area were informants to security operatives.
He said: “The cutting of the cable was becoming rampart, but if the suspect did not have buyers buying the stolen cables from them, they wouldn’t be going  to vandalize the cables on daily basis, because there is an increase in the attacks on government properties across the state.
“Cutting of cables by the suspects has thrown many communities in the State into darkness, which has also rendered the power company’s effort to illuminate some communities vain.”
