Confirming the development to our state correspondent the wife to the kidnapped CPS, Hajiya Sekina Mijinyawa, said her husband left home for Gembu in Sardauna local government Council at about “7am this morning”.

Migiyawa, who was on his way to Mambilla Plateau to join Plateau State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku on his Campaign tour, was said to have been kidnapped alongside other government officials with whom they were both driving on the press crew bus.

Hajia Mijinyawa pleaded with the kidnappers to release her husband unhurt.

She also passionately appealed to the State government and the various security operatives to take legitimate paths to rescue her husband and other victims of the kidnap unhurt.

One of the victims who narrowly escaped the scene said apart from the CPS and the government officials that were abducted, a foreign expatriate whom he said was on his way to one of the Internally Displaced Persons camp was also kidnapped.

The escaped victim, who gave his name as Yusuf Garba who narrated how the kidnappers took over the highway for several hours, said the CPS and the other victims after they were dispossessed of their belongings were led away into the forest by their abductors.

When reached for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), David Misal said, “I am not aware of the kidnap so I don’t have any details about it.”

As at the time of filing this report, the State governor and other top government officials who were far away in Mambilla Plateau canvassing for votes from the electorate ahead the forthcoming elections were yet to make a public statement on the kidnap.
