Shiites, Police In Bloody Clash In Abuja, Holds Peaceful Protest In Lagos

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, also known as Shiites on Thursday engaged men of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in a bloody clash in Abuja around the Federal Secretariat.

The bloody clash which took place around 11am left many civil servants scampering for cover as live bullets were freely use by the police to disperse the group.

While some of the Shiites members were in Abuja, others headed for Lagos state to continue with their protest in their bid to secure the release of their leader Ibrahim El-zakzaky who has been detained by the Federal Government

In the protest held at Maryland intersection, Ikeja on Thursday, they chanted several songs demanding that the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration respect the court that ruled that the IMN leader be released.
