Service Chiefs: I’m Delighted South-East Is Now Represented, Ex-DSS Director

Former Director of the Department of Security Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor, has expressed his delight that the South-East is represented in the appointment of new service chiefs.

On Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made 21 new appointments.

Among the 21 new appointments were seven security chiefs.

Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla from Enugu State is the new Chief of Naval Staff (CNS).
Nuhu Ribadu, (North-East) was appointed as the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa (North-West) is the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja (South-West) is now the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and AVM Hassan Abubakar (North-West) is the new Chief of Air Staff (CAS).

The acting Inspector-General of Police is DIG Kayode Egbetokun, (South-West) (South-West), and Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, (South-South) is the Chief of Defense Intelligence.

Speaking in an interview Tuesday on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Ejiofor described the appointments as all-inclusive.
“I’m more delighted that the South-East is now represented and this is a way of dousing tension,” he said.

“From my own view, I don’t think he (Tinubu) wants to look at solving the security challenges we have with the jackboot method that we’ve all been using.”

Ejiofor said the appointment will build confidence and assurance.

“It’s a way of building confidence, giving people assurance, and he would go further in that direction to look at the issues – maybe by the time we start setting agendas for the President. But for this appointment, he must be commended very well.”
