Don Calls For Reopening Of Land Borders

A call has gone to the Federal Government to lift the ban on border closure immediately in order to reduce the suffering of the people of the border town.

The Chairman of Yewa Consultative Forum, Chief Anthony Asiwaju made the call in Abeokuta, that the suffering of the people are too much and unbearable to the people of the State.

According to him, the Federal Government should harmonized their policy of closing the border, adding that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the people of the area are relieved of their pains on the closure of the border.

He stressed that lack of petroleum product have been the problem facing the people of border closure pointing that most of the people travel far to buy petroleum products for their businesses, while most of the businesses in border towns have closed down.

On corruption and extortions, there are many roadblocks, where not only uniform men but thugs mounting roadblock to getting money from the road users, pointing out that Abeokuta/Imeko-Afon Federal Highways are an example of such problem.

He stressed the need for the Federal Government to develop border communities and give them the tertiary institution of learning, good medical services, make the border communities viable for industries and stable power supply, gas pipeline empower us for a modern way of farming, among others world seize to function in the border towns.
