Prevailing Security Challenge will Soon Become A Thing Of The Past – Gowon
Former Head of State and Convener of Nigeria Prays, General Yakubu Gowon has expressed optimism that the security challenge bedevilling the nation will soon become a thing of the past.
He expressed the optimism when he paid a courtesy visit to the Osun state governor, Gboyega Oyetola at the governors house in Osogbo Saturday.
General Gowon who urged Nigerians to not only pray for peace but act for peace added that the yearning for peace in Nigeria is overwhelming and achievable.
The Former head of state who is in Osogbo, the Osun state Capital for a two day programme of Nigeria Prays Southwest zone, said there is nothing difficult for God who owns heaven and earth to do.
He noted that apart from praying for the Nigeria nation, efforts are also been made to discuss issues with stakeholders across board to achieve peaceful coexistence.
He emphasised the need for the nation to rise up and pray and not allow themselves to be pushed into hating one another and called on every Nigeria to play their role in building the peace of the nation.
In his welcome address, Osun state governor, Gboyega Oyetola said the former head of state came at a time when the state is striving to restore its status as the most peaceful state in the country.
He retreated his commitment to ensure that the fit is maintained adding that measures are been taken towards achieving a peaceful and secured Osun State.
