Scale Up Of Waste Collection Has Made Ogun Cleaner- Commissioner

       The Ogun State Government says the increase in capacity for waste collection, has made cities and suburbs in the State cleaner.

          The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye, who stated this while monitoring the April edition of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, commended the newly-engaged waste management company, saying the areas it covered were becoming neater.

          He disclosed that government waste trucks now operate in parts of the State that were not covered in the past, adding that the new arrangement would in the long run, produce a cleaner Ogun State.

          ‘’We recently employed the services of a waste management company to manage waste in four of our major cities. If you have observed, you will see improvement in those places they are working. The government has also gone to areas where waste management operations were not being conducted. Overall, the State is well covered and this will of course, leave us with a better, cleaner environment’’, he said.

          Oyeleye said, despite the unlikelihood of severe flooding in the State, as contained in Nimet’s 2018 rainfall forecast, residents must endeavour to make proper waste management a way of life.

On his part, the member representing Obafemi-Owode, Odeda and Abeokuta-North Federal Constituency in the House of Representative, Honourable Mikhail Kazeem, advised residents of the State to protect and maintained clean environment at all times.
