Saturday Election: 26 Governorship Candidates Down For Umahi In Ebonyi

Twenty-six gubernatorial candidates have dumped their political ambitions to support the reelection bid of Governor of Ebonyi state Engr David Umahi ahead of March 9th governorship election
The Governorship candidates of the political party that step down for Umahi are those of ADC, AD, APP, AAP, ASD, ACPN, BNPP, CAP, DA, GPN, ID, LP, MAJA, NRM, PT, MPN, KP, RPN, NPC, PPN, AA, ACCORD, UDP, DPC, UPN and NCP .
They announced this, on Tuesday at the State Executive Chambers in Government House Abakaliki.
Ogbonnaya Okorie of Advanced Allied Party (APP) who spoke on behalf the other governorship candidates stated that they have collectively agreed to step down for governor Umahi to complete his eight years tenure and developmental strides already achieve in the state.
“After critically appraising the developmental strides of Gov. Umahi and in perfect agreement that he has done well in the first term and will do more in second term, we the undesigned 26 governorship candidates of the listed political parties hereby resolve without any form of force or ill-will to step down for His Excellency, Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi and adopt him as our sole candidate for the office of the governor of Ebonyi state, the salt of the Nation, come march 9th gubernatorial election.
“We have collapse all our party structures towards the emergence of Gov. Umahi as the governor of Ebonyi State come 9th March, 2019 to allow for continuity and to consolidate on already achieved developments of making Ebonyi state the envy of other states in Nigeria.
“It is therefore our collective agreement without any compulsion to step down for Gov. Umahi to complete his eight years term as enshrined in Ebonyi Charter of Equity”. He said
According to Hon. Bar. Anselm Enigwe, the former member of APC and Ebonyi North Senatorial Candidate of SDP who said that its criminal to say that Umahi shouldn’t have his second term because transformations in the state shows as evidence to prove his adminstration is working.
” Someone asked me why all through my period in APC and SDP, I never said anything wrong or castigated this administration but I couldn’t respond because I never saw anything negative in this administration because his
administration came in and gave hope to the Ebonyi people “
In response, Governor Umahi who received them and stated that information has it that some of the gubernatorial candidates are stronger than the remaining five candidates of other party especially the APC candidate.
“We want to thank you for your kind decision and expression of warm sentiments of our modest achievements as I invite you to become partners in the progress. We ask you to turn around your supporters and let them know your stand as we take nothing for grated”. Umahi said
