Don’t Pocket Sanwo-Olu Anglican Bishop Tells APC Leaders
The Anglican Bishop of Lagos West, Rev. James Odedeji, Sunday cautioned the leadership of the All Progressives Congress,( APC), monarchs and others, against pressurising the new Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a bid to have firm control of his operations.
The Clergyman who stated this at the inauguration Thanksgiving service held at the Chapel of Christ the Light at Alausa secretariat, Ikeja, which also attended by the deputy governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat noted that such moves could retard his potential.
Odedeji, in his sermon titled: “Righteousness in governance”, stressed that pocketing the governor, who he said has expressed his desire to get Lagos to its previous state, could spell doom for the state.
While noting that no one can assume the office without God commands, the cleric argued that the people have alot of respect and expectations from Sanwo-Olu, saying, he must not fail.
“To all Lagosians, party leaders, elders, friends; let us remember the governor and his deputy because if the governor succeed, we have all succeeded. But if otherwise, we will all be held responsible.
“We must support the government because we all can not occupy the office; someone must be there. So do not put too much pressure on him. He mean well for the country. Do not intimidate him.
“If you give someone a ram, you allow him to have control over the animal. Do not pocket him. He is too big to be pocket. Do not pollute him because he is saint.
Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the congregation, declared that his administration would not tolerate motorists driving against traffic.
The governor who described driving against traffic as dangerous and suicidal, urged motorist to cooperate with Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials as they manage traffic within the state.
