Don’t Be Used By Politicians To Rig Election- Umahi Urges Corps Members

  Umahi disclosed this at the passing out parade of 2018 NYSC Batch B
Stream One Corps members deployed to the state for their service year
at the Afikpo North Local Government Area.
He advised the corps members, not to allow themselves be used by
politicians to thwart the country’s democracy.
” Politicians are planning to rig next year’s election and the corps
members owe a duty to the country not to give in to the nefarious
plots of such politicians.
“I have no doubt that you were adequately motivated and sensitized by
officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on
your participation in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections.
“Let me inform you that your participation in that important
assignment is a rare opportunity for you to contribute your quota
towards enthroning a credible leadership, good governance and above
all, engendering a peaceful and prosperous Nation”.
“In the light of the above, I charge you to discharge the INEC
assignment with utmost sense of responsibility and good conscience by
not allowing yourselves to be manipulated by desperate and
unscrupulous politicians who will be willing to buy your conscience at
all cost”, he said.
Umahi approved N400 million to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to
renovate the road leading to the camp, renovate dilapidated structures
in the camp, provide drainage and regrassing of the camp’s parade
ground, solar street lightening of the camp and other projects.
Umahi who directed that the  sum of N5,000  travel allowance be
immediately given to each of the 2200 Batch B stream 1 Corps members
who ended their orientation course Monday.
He further dole out N2million to corps members who took part in the
parade ,  and  another various cash sums to be given the staff of NYSC
and the Military officers who took part in the camping
The NYSC state coordinator, Mrs Ann Ngozika commended Governor Umahi for his synergy, harmonious
working relationship exhibited with active support which yielded a lot
successes within the three weeks training called on all stakeholders and
corps employers especially principals of public secondary schools in the
state to accept the services of the corp members posted to them and utilize
them effectively to enhance the educational standard of the students of
their communities.
She  enjoined stakeholders and corps employers to put all efforts in
top gear to ensure that the corps members are provided with a conducive
environment to diligently render their services to the fatherland.
