Revive Dilapidated Facilities At UCH, Olubadan Urges FG
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, on Tuesday, urged the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Health, to resuscitate the health facilities at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, and restore them to world-class standards.
Ladoja made the appeal while playing host to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, at his palace in Ibadan.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Olugbemiga Ayoade, the Olubadan expressed concern over the state of the hospital’s facilities and shortage of medical personnel.
“I am worried about the present precarious situation of the health facilities in UCH, which has lost its old glory.
“Apart from shortage of health facilities, there is also acute shortage of medical personnel,” he said, adding that “urgent action must be taken to arrest the situation.”
“However, I commend the efforts of President Bola Tinubu for bringing back the lost glory of the hospital,” he added.
Earlier, the ministers appreciated the warm reception accorded them and members of their entourage during their visit to the palace.
They disclosed that they were in Ibadan to commission the newly built world-class diagnostic centre at the UCH.
The ministers assured the paramount ruler that his requests would be noted for the attention of the Federal Government in due course.
