Ramadan: Clerics Admonish Politicians To Alleviate Poor Masses Suffering
Prominent Islamic clerics on Sunday, admonished political office holders to use their position and power to alleviate the suffering of the poor masses.

The clerics gave the admonition in Osogbo while delivering lectures at the organised third Annual Ramadan lecture of the Oranmiyan Movement, in collaboration with the Enroute Rauf Team, a political platform of Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun.
The Chief Imam of Offa, Sheik Muyideen Salman, during his lecture said the present day politicians and office holders have bastardised the legacy of Nigerian nationalists and political pace setters.
Salman who lamented the poverty that is ravaging the land despite the free gift numerous resources from Allah reminded leaders that they would give account of their stewardship to Allah.
He tasked those seeking political power to always make provision for social infrastructure and good living condition for the masses their priority, stressing that the poor masses deserve care from their elected leaders.
He admonished politicians to remember that the position and office they occupy were temporary, and that the welfare of the poor masses who voted them into office should be taken care of.
Alhaji Ustaz Orimadegun, an Islamic Scholar in his own lecture ask people in power to be alive to their duties and provide the masses with good and qualitative education.
Orimadegun task them to leave behind good legacy filled with integrity, stating that those who voted them into office and history would never forget what they did while in power.
He said whatever they do while in office would determine the kind of treatment they would get from the people when they leave office.
Sheik Daoud Alfanla , in his own lecture task political office holders to endeavor to find out the needs of the people they govern in order to proffer solution to their problems.
Alfanka sited examples of prophets in the Quran who had compassion for the people they govern and task those in the seat of power in Nigeria to emulate them.
Earlier, Mr Niyi Aluko, the Coordinator of the Oranmiyan Group said the Ramadan lecture was to celebrate the 61st birthday of Gov. Rauf Aregbesola who happens to be the founder and mentor of the Oranmiyan Group worldwide.
Aluko said Aregbesola was worth celebrating because he had transformed Osun in his seven and half years as governor , praying that whoever become the state next governor should continue with the developmental programmes of the Aregbesola’s administration
