Primary: Ekiti PDP Warns APC Against Unleashing Violence In The State
The Ekiti state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the violence which erupted at Saturday’s governorship primary of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The party in a statement issued on Sunday by its Publicity Secretary, Jackson Adebayo, warned the APC against setting the state on fire over its primary election.
Adebayo said the violence that erupted at the APC primary did not come as a surprise alleging that the opposition party was synonymous with
crisis, killing and violence.
According to him, Ekiti State would not allow the APC “to again reinvent the spirit of violence in the state” pointing out that Ekiti state started enjoying relative peace immediately after the exit of
APC in 2014 when Governor Ayodele Fayose took over.
Adebayo said: “As a co-political party we can advice them to move their primaries to the Federal Capital Territory where there are enough security apparatus that can assist them to tame or hang their leaders who have erroneously seen violence as part of the game.”

In another development ,the National Secretariat of the party has disqualified appointees of Governor Ayo Fayose from voting at its forthcoming primary election.
The disqualification which was to ensure transparent conduct of its primary election on Tuesday, May 8 was contained in the list of delegates released by the party’s national leadership which was signed by the National Organising Secretary, Col. Chris Akobundu (retd).
The decision was reached by the National Working Committee (NWC) in consonance with the Ekiti PDP Peace and Reconciliation Committee led by former Senate President, David Mark.
The only serving and former elected officials still in the camp of Fayose, it was learnt, will have the right to vote at the shadow election scheduled for Tuesday.
Prominent among the aides of Fayose who may have been disqualified by the party’s
national leadership are Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Modupe Alade and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Dipo Anisulowo.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rotimi Ojo; Commissioner for Works and
Transportation, Mrs. Funmilayo Ogun and Commissioner for Public
Utilities, Chief Tunde Ogunleye won’t partake in voting at primary.
Also barred from voting at the PDP shadow poll are Commissioner for
Commerce and Industry, Hon. Michael Ayodele; Commissioner for Budget
and Planning, Mr. Gbenga Olajide; Special Adviser (Political), Alhaji
Dauda Ajise.
Others include Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Sola Omotoso; Chairman, State Universal Basic Education, Senator Bode Ola;
Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Chief Abiodun Falayi, chairmen
and members of boards of boards, commissions and agencies who are PDP
members.
