Police Rescue Baby, Arrest Vandal On Carter Bridge
The police in Lagos, Thursday, rescued a toddler abandoned under a parked bus at Mile 12, Ketu area of the state.
The baby girl was discovered when residents going to work heard the cry of the baby at about 4.30 a.m., and immediately alerted the police who came in and picked her up.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this yesterday morning, said an investigation is currently ongoing.
“Women who can’t take care of their children should not leave them to die. They should approach Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and motherless baby homes for help.
“Anyone found abandoning a child will be arrested and prosecuted because they are trying to kill the child by commission or omission,” he said.
Also, 30-year-old Mastru Mutairu, has been arrested for removing rails from Carter Bridge.
The suspect was caught at about 3:15.a.m vandalising the bridge rails.
A motorist who saw Mutairu alerted Ebute-Ero Police Division, who swiftly moved in and apprehended him.
It was learnt that the vandal upon the arrival of the police took to his heels, but was arrested.
Hundeyin said an investigation was ongoing to locate his buyers.
On his part, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, promised that the Command under his watch would be hard on criminals and their networks.
