Police Rescue Kidnapped 60-year-old, Arrest 10 Suspects In Raids Across Delta
The Delta State Police Command has rescued a 60-year-old man who was kidnapped in Agbor, arrested ten suspects following a raid on a brothel in Abbi, and recovered a locally made firearm from fleeing suspects in Oghara, in a series of operations carried out on Thursday.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, detailing three separate operations across the state.
According to the statement, operatives of the Agbor Division, acting on intelligence, mobilised alongside forest guards and local security personnel to Alisime Village at about 6pm on September 4, following an earlier report of the kidnapping of the elderly man.
“On 4th September 2026, at about 1800hrs, operatives of Agbor Division, acting on intelligence following an earlier report of the kidnapping of a 60-year-old man, mobilised to Alisime Village alongside forest guards and local security personnel.
“The operatives engaged the kidnappers and successfully rescued the victim unharmed. The suspects fled into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries,” the statement read.
The police recovered a mobile phone and an ATM card at the scene, while the area has been cordoned off as a manhunt continues for the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation the same day, operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit, Ozoro, raided a brothel in Abbi at about 9.30pm while trailing a suspect wanted in connection with an arson attack at Owhelogbo Community in August.
Ten suspects, comprising seven females and three males, were arrested during the raid, while quantities of Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered.
“On 4th September 2026, at about 2130hrs, operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Ozoro, acting on credible intelligence on a suspect wanted in connection with an arson case at Owhelogbo Community in August, raided a brothel in Abbi, where the suspect was reportedly hiding.
During the operation, ten suspects, comprising seven females and three males, were arrested, while Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered during the raid,”he wrote.
The police said profiling of the suspects was ongoing and that those found culpable would be prosecuted.
In the third operation, operatives of the Oghara Division, alongside a civilian anti-cult group, responded to a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road, Oghara.
The statement said the suspects fled on sighting the patrol team, and one of them, identified by the alias “Highest,” discarded a locally made cut-to-size gun in the process. The firearm was recovered, while efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, commended the operatives and other security personnel involved in the operations and directed that efforts be intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
