Police Arrest 4 Suspected WAEC Syndicates
Lagos State Police Commissioner, Edgal Imohimi, on Friday paraded four suspected West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) syndicates who were said to have hijacked WAEC questions and answer papers and sell to members of the public for huge amounts of money.
The suspects were identified as Samuel Kayode, 28, Adebayo Ifeoluwa, 17, Alayande Hammed,16, and Olusode Festus, 20 while others suspects have been tracked to Ghana.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, the suspects gave their examination questions paper to candidates and send to candidates already answered ahead of the examination.
He said, “Based on the intelligent report I tasked the decoy team of the rapid response squad to ensure they infiltrate and arrest this national saboteurs.
“Investigation revealed that these atrocities were committed through the personal website and WhapsApp “
Edgal, revealed that Samuel Kayode, a Physics and Mathematics teacher in two of the private schools in Ondo State linked up with those who provides him the prepared answered of leaked 2018 examination question with his Whatsapp group called WAEC VIP where he shares and sell leak expo examination questions and answers.
Adebayo Ifeoluwa, a student of Federal University of Technology, Akure,Ondo State also created a Whapsapp group of his own called MCC where he shares and sell leaked WAEC questions
‘’Also Olusode Festus, an iron bender apprentice who resides in Ekpon, Edo State, created two Whatsapp group named WAEC POM and WAEC VIP where he shares and sells the questions.
‘’Lastly, Alayande Hammed, who is undergoing training on repairs of damage phones also linked to the crime, got the expo from other group he belong to and shared it with student.’’
The Lagos police boss further stated that question papers given by this syndicates are for words for words and they have all confessed and admitted committing the offence was established through their mobile phones.
He urged the parents, guardians and tutors to guard their wards not to engage in any examination malpractice rather encourage their wards to face their studies.
