Police Arrest Robbery Gang After Shootout In Lagos

 Operatives of the Lagos State police command on Sunday said they have arrested some robbers in Lagos and recovered firearms from them after shootout in Lagos.

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said the Command through operatives at Okokomaiko Police Division in Lagos have arrested the notorious traffic robbery suspects.

 According to him, ” On May 17,  2019 at about 10.20pm , a team of Policemen from Okokomaiko Police Station, on surveillance patrol intercepted a gang of traffic robbery suspects, at Cassidy bus stop. Okokomaiko.

“The hoodlums engaged the Police in a gun battle but eventually succumbed to the superior power of the Police”

Elkana said that one of the hoodlums was fatally injured and one Adigun Ganiyu ,26,  was arrested, while other gang members escaped.

He said one double barrel gun with one live cartridge, two expended cartridges and one motorcycle used by the hoodlums for the robbery operation were recovered from the suspects.

The suspect, however, confessed that their gang is responsible for series of traffic robberies along Okokomaiko and he is helping investigators with useful information about his fleeing Colleagues while Investigation is ongoing.

In a related development, the police said they intercepted a gang of traffic robbery suspects operating on motorcycle along Church bus stop Ilemba and shooting sporadically.

‘’ One justice igboanusi 29 , of no 11 jinadu street Ajangbadi  was arrested  and one short double barrels gun with one live cartridge was recovered from him while other gang members escaped.  Investigation is ongoing to get other fleeing suspects,” he said.
