Police Nab 5 Notorious Traffic Robbers In Lagos

 Operative of Lagos State Police Command on Sunday said they have arrested five robbery suspects, disposing commuters of their money and other belongings in Lagos.

The police in a statement by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said at about 10.00pm, Police Patrol team on surveillance along Oshodi /Apapa express way sighted some armed bandits at Toyota bus stop, under Daleko bridge, taking advantage of the traffic congestion to rob motorists and other unsuspecting members of the Public of their valuables such as laptops, handsets and money.

He said three suspects namely; Daniel Ani ’19; Akinbode Muiz 17 and Oluwasegun Emmanuel ’24 were arrested and they confessed to be responsible for traffic robbery, saying two knives and cutlasses were recovered from them.

The PPRO said investigation is ongoing, suspects will soon be charged to Court.

He added that a surveillance patrol team attached to Orile Police Station also received a distress call that some traffic robbers are operating at Alafia area along Lagos Badagry Express Way, saying ,”The Anti- robbery teams were  quickly deployed to the scene where two suspects namely; Olalekan Taoreed, 20, of No.20,  Sunday street, Ijora Badia and Adeniyi Okunloye of No. 25, Alaba Road, Suru  Alaba were arrested.

“One Samsung handset stolen from one of the victims was recovered from them. One big sharp cutlass which was used in inflicting injuries on their victims, was recovered from them”

“The suspects confessed to be responsible for traffic robberies along Orileand environs. Investigation Is ongoing and suspects will be charged to Court”

Meanwhile, CP Zubairu Muazu, however, warns that tough times await traffic robbers with the deployment of surveillance teams across state.
