Ogbomoso Fracas: Oyo Police Confirms Detention Of Erring Officers
Oyo State Police Command, on Thursday, confirmed the killing of a corps member, Iyanfa Damilola during a fracas at a nightclub in Ogbomoso on Monday.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, police operatives were dispatched to the nightclub at the ”Under G” area, Owode Ogbomoso.
He added that while the 16th convocation ceremony of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) was on going, there was a distress call that some people were l fighting somewhere.
The escalation of the crisis led to the firing of “warning shots” by the officers.
Following the death of Damilola as a result of the shots fired, the officers involved have been detained.
The incident recorded the death of one Iyanda Damilola, ‘m’, and the injury of his brother one Iyanda Femi Isreal, who has since been discharged from the hospital after treatment,” Osifeso said in a statement on Thursday.
“All operatives involved in the incident including Inspector Rasheed Saheed are currently in detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku.”
He also hinted that the State Police Commissioner, CP Adebola Hamzat has ordered that the case be “taken up by the Homicide Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department with the Deputy Commissioner of Police directly in charge.
