Man, 61 In Police Net For Impregnating 19-Year Old Daughter
Operatives of Lagos State Police Command on Sunday said they have arrested one Eke Kanu, a sixty-one-year-old man who resides at Ebute Road in Ikorodu area of the state, for allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with his 19-year old daughter and in turn impregnated her.
The state’s police command spokesperson, Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police who revealed this in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday said the Ikorodu police station received a complaint from a member of FIDA Nigeria, a Non –Governmental Organisation made up of women lawyers, that one Eke Kanu, 61 years old of Ebute road, Igbogbo was having unlawful sexual intercourse with his 19 years old daughter (name withheld) without her consent and impregnated her.
He said, “The survivor explained that her father started having sexual intercourse with her when she was small and threatened to deal with her if she tells anybody.
“She further explained that, when her father discovered that she was pregnant, he took her to a chemist where she was administered some drugs and injection to abort the pregnancy.”
Elkana said that the survivor was taken to Mirabel Centre by the police, for medical attention and forensic examination.
He added the suspect was arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
In a related development, he said the Bariga police station also received a report that one Chibuike Kalu, 33 years old of Amodu Street Bariga has defiled his 14 years old daughter (name withheld).
He said the survivor was also taken to Mirabel Centre Ikeja for medical treatment and forensic examination, saying the suspect was arrested and he confessed to the commission of the crime.
Elkana said, the suspect will be charged to Court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
