Plateau United unveil Boboye as Technical Adviser, set continental target

Plateau United FC of Jos on Thursday unveiled Kennedy Boboye as its new Technical Adviser and sets continental ticket as target for next season.
The Nigerian Professional Football League side engaged Boboye for a two-year contract after the resignation of its former technical adviser, Zakari Baraje.
Before his appointment, Boboye had played for many Nigerian football clubs before he venture into coaching with a Confederation of African Football Coaching ‘B’ Badge.
He was among the consortium of coaches appointed by the NFF to head the Super Eagles after Sunday Oliseh resigned.
Danladi Mann, the Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, congratulated the acting General Manager, Pius Henwan, and others for conducting the selection process that led to the engagement of Boboye.
Mann, who described Plateau United as the state’s darling club, assured that the state government would continue to support the club to achieve its target.
Mann said: “We had our teething problems last season when United gained promotion to NPFL but we overcame and we finished eighth in the league.
“And we hope to surpass that feat next season by winning laurels domestically and clinching continental ticket.
“To the technical adviser, it is a new challenge, we believe you can and the sky will be your limit. As the name of the club is Plateau United, we must remain united, we must work together to achieve our target.”
Henwan, in his remarks, said that the club would spring surprises next season with “the appointment of a high caliber young coach like Boboye”.
According him, the club has closely monitored the development of the Boboye and was convinced that he would take Plateau United to the promise land.
Plateau Football Association Chairman Sunday Longbap, in his remarks said that change has arrived in football.
Longbap said: “With all humility, we did our job, we are proud to unveil one of the best coaches Nigeria has to showcase.”
Boboye said that he had interacted with the team and had seen the quality in them.
The technical adviser said that the target was realizable and he would be happy to achieve it.
He said that he would not be competing but be contesting for honours in the NPFL as he like leaving legacies wherever he works as a coach.
