Oyo Warns Residents On High-voltage Power Cables

Oyo state government has admonished residents of the state to be cautious of their activities and waste disposal habits during the rainy season, calling on all those who trade under high-voltage power cables and on the streets to vacate such places to avoid disasters.

In a similar development, the State Government has commenced the rehabilitation of additional seven roads across that state.

The government said on Monday that it has commenced the rehabilitation of Iyanganku/NTC road, Eleta/Odinjo/Muslim road, Beere/Oranyan/Orita Aperin road and Ogbomoso High School/Baptist High road.

The government noted that the roads are either being rehabilitated, renovated and reconstructed through its agency; Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), disclosing that Ariyo Box culvert at Olorunsogo/Akanran road, Iyana Church/Oyeniyan along Iwo road/Olodo road and Ologuneru/Abanla/Alafara road are also being attended to.

The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun reiterated the government’s commitment to infrastructural development in the state, assuring that other bad roads across the state will be attended to in batches.

He called on the citizens plying the rehabilitated roads to exercise patience as the flow of traffic would be affected during the ongoing repairs.

The Government spokesman appealed to the citizens to protect government properties against vandalization, saying that resources expended on vandalized properties could be channeled to other areas.

He called on the citizen to be wary of staying under the electric wire/pole especially during the rainy, adding that the government owes the citizens to sensitize and educate them against natural disasters.
