Overnight Road Crashes Leave Three Injured On Lagos Roads- LASEMA
Three separate road incidents occurred in different parts of Lagos State in the early hours of Saturday without any loss of life, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has said.
LASEMA, in a statement released by its Head of Public Affairs, Afolabi Olawale, said the incidents occurred at Olupese Bus Stop inward Oshodi, Aswani Bus Stop inward Iyana Isolo, and Oba Ogunji Road in Ikeja.
He noted that emergency responders were able to promptly rescue the victims, recover the affected vehicles, and restore traffic flow.
Afolabi disclosed that the first incident occurred at about 12:07 am when a truck conveying granite developed a fault after its rear tyre became trapped in a pothole at Olupese Bus Stop, obstructing traffic inward Oshodi.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the poor condition of the road contributed to the breakdown, adding that no injuries or fatalities were reported.
He added that the agency’s Eagle Response Team immediately diverted traffic and deployed its heavy-duty recovery equipment, Super Metro, to remove the truck.
The spokesperson noted that barely an hour later, at about 12:59 am, a Toyota Sienna with registration number ABJ-515DQ collided with an oncoming truck at Aswani Bus Stop, causing the truck to veer off the road and become stuck on a culvert.
He stated that three persons, comprising two women and one man, sustained injuries in the crash and were given immediate medical attention by responders before being taken to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.
He added that the truck was later extracted with the Super Metro and handed over to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, while the Sienna was released to officers from the Aswani Police Station after recovery operations were completed.
Afolabi noted that another accident was recorded at about 1:19 am, involving a Ministry of Environment concrete mixer truck and a green Volkswagen bus with registration number FKJ 424KA, which occurred on Oba Ogunji Road.
Afolabi noted that preliminary findings indicated that excessive speeding by the Volkswagen bus caused the collision, adding that no injuries or fatalities were recorded, while both vehicles were removed from the roadway after emergency responders carried out mechanical repairs on the mixer truck.
Commenting on the incidents, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, commended the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies and urged motorists to drive responsibly.
He said, “The Sanwo-Olu administration remains committed to zero tolerance for loss of life on Lagos roads.
“The synergy between LASEMA, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, the police, and other stakeholders ensured that these incidents were managed with minimal impact.
“We will continue to invest in equipment, training, and rapid response to safeguard Lagosians.”

He also advised motorists to avoid excessive speeding and report damaged roads to the appropriate authorities, saying responsible driving remained key to preventing avoidable crashes.
