Osun Set To Recoup N30bn Tax Debt
Osun State Government at the weekend said it has put necessary machinery in place to recoup about N30bn tax and charges owed the state by private and public establishments.
A new tax consultant recruited by the state government to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the state,  Mr. Bicci Alli disclosed this while responding to newsmen questions on the plan enforcement for the recovery of the huge tax debt
According to him, the figure formed the amount owed the state covering taxes, levies and other charges due to the state for three years between 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Alli who explained that the State Internally Revenue Service (IRS) had written to the establishments owing the state taxes and rates and gave them 14days ultimatum within which to make payment for the amount they are owing the state or be sanctioned disclosed that the agency had secured court warrant with which to carry out the enforcement to recoup the money.
The Revenue consultant who did not give the breakdown of the tax debt declared that federal agencies and banks are owing the substantial part of the debt.
Alli said the moves became necessary in order to increase the Revenue base of the state and ensure quick completion of all ongoing infrastructural facilities across the state.
While urging the affected establishments to visit the agency for necessary mode of payment so as to avoid embarrassment, Alli said the enforcement would be carried out simultaneously in all the three senatorial districts of the state.
He stated that workers of the agency have been trained to ensure that enforcement are carried out diligently ,adding that activities of the agency has been streamlined with the reformation of the organizational structure for optimum performance.
Alli called on the residents to cooperate with the agency in ensuring that the revenue base of the state increase for necessary infrastructural development of the state.
