Osun Govt. Facilitates Health for All Through Access To Health Insurance Scheme
The present administration under the leadership of Governor Rauf Aregbesola have ensured that Osun state residents have access to effective and qualitative health care services without experiencing financial stress, irrespective of race, gender and social status
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu stated this in Ijebu-jesa, while addressing participants at the ongoing 3-day workshop on Osun Health Insurance Scheme for the development of operational guidance.
At the workshop organized by the Ministry of Health, the Commissioner affirmed that both pregnant women, teenagers, elderly, and vulnerable children under five years of age, will be given quality health care services at affordable cost.
Speaking earlier in his opening remark, the Executive Secretary Osun State Health Insurance Scheme Dr. Niyi Oginni stated that the goal of the Scheme is to provide access to qualitative health care services to beneficiaries at affordable premium without financial stress.
This according to him is achieved, by pooling funds from public private partnership to strengthen the health care, prior to the falling ill of the beneficiaries, while providing regulatory oversight.
According to one of the facilitators, Dr Frances llika, contributing into the pool is very important, as it aids quality and equal health care service delivery adding that a country that spends more on health, have less under five years old age mortality rate.
Dignitaries at the event included the Permanent Secretaries for the Ministry of Health Mr Adegoke Kayode, Hospital Management Board Mr. lsaac Olaluwoye, and Ministry of Finance Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunlumade among others.
