Osun 2018: SDP Inaugurates Steering Committee
Ahead the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, the state chapter of the Social Democratic Party SDP has inaugurated a 31- member steering committee to pilot the affairs of the party.
Members  of the committee include Chief Ademola Ojo (Chairman), Barrister Ojo Williams (Secretary), Mr Taiwo Akeju, Mr Goke Onigbogi, among others..
Inaugurating  the committee in Osogbo at the weekend, the national Vice Chairman, Chief Supo Shonibare, urged members to work assiduously to bring in more members and ensure that fairness guide their actions.
He observed that the all inclusive committee was put in place to ensure that those ones that decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP  may not be left out of the leadership of the party.
Recalled that the chairman, Senator Iyiola Omisore faction of the PDP, Dr. Bayo Faforiji, a one time  chairman of PDP in the state, Barrister Ojo Williams, former member, House of Representatives, Hon. Bade Falade, former Nigeria ambassador to Philippines, Dr Yemi Farounbi among others defected to SDP from PDP recently.
Shonibare said similar committees have been inaugurated in Ekiti and Lagos states to ensure a strong and formidable party structures from all the wards, local governments and states throughout Nigeria.
Speaking on the ideology of his party, Shonibare said  “We have been meeting for the past six months under the auspices of Southern and Middle Belt Forum and we have agreed that the way we ran regional government in the 50s is the way to go.
“The state will get more powers. This regional government would be actively involved in managing of states under its jurisdiction. We may create more states”.
“More stakeholders and groups are still coming to join us. That is what informed the steering committee of the SDP at the state level today. The same thing would occur at the local government and ward level”.
Chief Ademola Ojo on behalf of committee members pledged their commitment to the task ahead with the assurance that SDP will sweep the polls come September 22, 2018.
