Osun 2018: Akere Declares Gubernatorial Ambition
The immediate past commissioner for Information and Strategy, in Osun, Oluomo Sunday Akere Wednesday broke his silence over his rumoured exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress and his gubernatorial ambition.
Akere in a press statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo declared his interest to succeed the incumbent, Governor Rauf Aregbesola saying that his rumoured exit to join the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP along side Alhaji Fatai Diekola was far from the truth.
According to him,  he needed to make his views and stand known to his supporters and the public so as to allay the fears of his teeming admirers and well wishers.
Akere said he does not see himself leaving his beloved party and moving to another party affirming his unalloyed support and loyalty to the progressive family.
“I’m a party man and a progressive to the core, my decision to stick to my political party is a personal decision and not up for debate” adding that it is better to fight for a course within than doing it without.
Akere who described the exit of the strong Osogbo politician to join another party as a rude shock to him however said the development cannot affect his personal relationship with Diekola.
On the preparation of his party APC for the 2018 Gubernatorial Election in Osun State, Oluomo Sunday Akere reaffirmed his determination to fly the banner of his party in the election and win while conforming to all the set rules and regulations of his party.
