Galatasaray Reach €1 Million Loan Deal With Monaco For Onyekuru

Super Eagles winger Henry Onyekuru torrid time at Monaco is almost over after the French Ligue 1 club reached a loan deal with Galatasaray.

The loan deal, which according to reports in Turkey would be concluded next week at the latest, would cost Galatasaray €1 million. The Turkish club also has the option of paying an additional €3 million at the end of the season in June to secure on a permanent basis the services of the Nigerian international who had previously spent two loan stints at Gala.

His pending return to the Turk Telekom Stadium would be his third stint with Gala, having previously played with them for the entire 2018/2019 campaign and the second half of the 2019/2020 season.

Onyekuru helped Galatasaray to a league and cup double during 2018/2019 season, scoring 16 goals.

Onyekuru, who began his football career with the Aspire Academy before joining their partner club Belgian outfit K.A.S. Eupen in 2015 cost Monaco a princely €15 million a year ago from Everton.

The 23-year-old was unable to make an appearance for the English Premier League club owing to work permit issues, and he did not fare much better at Monaco, failing to secure a regular first-team spot at the Ligue 1 giants and making only four appearances this season, the last of which came in September.

His lack of appearances, however, did little to diminish interest in his services from Galatasaray and a handful of other clubs, notably Emirati club, Al Ain.
