World Igbo Congress Supports Nnia Nwodo, Decries Abuse Of Ohanaeze

The Executive Council, World Igbo Congress, has frowned at the continued attack on the Igbo cultural institutions by detractors, who use misguided Igbo elements to hijack and undermine Ndigbo.

The Congress, through a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Hon. Basil Onwukwe, reiterated its unflinching support to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, under the leadership of Nnia Nwodo for his dedicated service to Ndigbo.

He said: “We may not agree all the time, but we must understand his fatherly role and work with him to usher in a safe and prosperous homeland.

“The WIC hereby advise all Igbo, especially the youths, to show restraint in their verbal utterances to avoid triggering unprovoked assaults on our collective interest for self-determination and the actualisation of true governance of Igboland.”

The congress also encouraged all to close ranks and work together to achieve the common objective, noting that the duplication of Ohanaeze Ndigbo or World Igbo Congress,-the apex diaspora Igbo organisation is an exercise in futility, because these institutions remain indivisible brand symbols of Ndigbo.
