Traditional rulers, religious and community leaders in Ogun State have urged the residents of the state to justify the efforts of the state government and the donor of Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) ‘Global Fund’ and implementing agency Catholic Relief Services (CRS) through the correct usage of LLINs.
The Monarchs and religious leaders asked their subjects and followers to redeem the nets with the cards given to them, at the end of Nine (9) days exercise of the distribution of net cards across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
Speaking with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Media Team, the Omola of Imalaland, Oba (Apostle) Moses Adelani Olabode, said it would amount to wasting of state government and its partners resources if the residents fail to collect the nets or use it as expected.
The traditional ruler, admonished other stakeholders, including the religious leaders to continue sensitising members of the public on the reasons for the usage of the LLINs, as it eliminate malaria fever when slept inside it.
Also, the Amoore of Olomore, Alhaji Liafisi Adedeji Ogunrounbi expressed satisfaction over the exercise, while commending the state health officers, mobilisers, and other members of the team, urged the government to make the exercise a routine.
The Chief Imam, Abule Olomore, Alhaji Musa Abdulrasheed and the Pastor of Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Imala, Pastor, Stephen Olakanni, appreciated the handlers of the programme, while appealing to public to embrace it.
Meanwhile, residents of the Ogun State have expressed their readiness to pick up the nets at their respective Distribution Points (DP) across the state, starting from May 1, saying that they were overwhelmed with the initiative of ‘Global Fund’ and the implementing agency Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
Residents of Olomore, Abule-Olomore, Ita-Oshin, Ile’se-Awo, Oke Ata, Imala, Ibara Orile, Olorunda, Obantoko, Kotopo Osiele, Ilewo-Orile, Ijebu-Ode, Oru-Ijebu, Awa, Ijebu-Igbo, Sagamu, Ilishan, Ogere/Remo, that spoke with CRS media team, described the exercise as laudable and commendable.
Some of them hailed the media team, the health officers, the mobilisers and the CRS Project Officers, who took upon themselves and spared their precious time to allay their fears and erased their erroneous beliefs, as well as the misconceptions about the insecticidal net usage.
