Ogun Assures Pregnant Women Of Free Health Care Services
The Ogun State government says the provision of quality health care service delivery to the pregnant women and children under age 5 through Community Based Health Insurance Scheme (CBHIS), “ARAYA” in conjunction with Save One Million Lives (SOML) would be its top priority, as the programme would spread across the 20 Local government areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, made this assertion at the streets sensitization tour of the Health Insurance Scheme “ARAYA” to Ogijo, Sagamu, Ikenne, Ilishan Remo and Odogbolu areas of the state.
Represented by the Director of Health Insurance in the Ministry, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, Dr Ipaye said that the state government had made enough provisions for primary care services, secondary care services and maternal and newborn health care, in order to reduce maternal and child mortality rate to the barest minimum in the state.
He added that the present administration, led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had made primary health care service delivery free for the under privileged women and children under age 5 in the state, noting that no one in this category is excepted from the scheme.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hassan Aminat, a pregnant woman from Ogijo and Bello Opemipo, a nursing mother from Ikenne respectively appreciated the state government for the initiative, saying that it would afford them the opportunity to attend maternity centres regularly and reduce cost of their treatment and hospital visits.
