Ogun Assembly Lauds SUBEBS On Improved Infrastructure In Schools
Ogun State House of Assembly has lauded the State Universal Basic Education Board for ensuring effective coordination and implementation of the basic education with emphasis on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as well as infrastructural development across primary schools in the State.
The House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology led by Hon. Victor Fasanya gave the commendation in continuation of the 2017 budget oversight visit to the Board under the chairmanship of Alhaji Olatunde Okewole.
Fasanya in company of other members of the Committee including Honourables Oyenuga Olufowobi, Rasaq Oduntan, Ganiyu Oyedeji, Adeyemi Harrison stated that notwithstanding the economic downturn in the nation the board was poised to further reposition primary education to achieve qualitative education programme of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration in the State.
Other lawmakers including Honourables Israel Jolaoso, Olayiwola Ojodu and Viwanu Ojodu challenges the board to step up measures towards accessing the Universal Basic Education counterpart fund to further put in place more structures with a view to allowing for equal access to quality education in all parts of the State.
They acknowledged the supportive role of SUBEB in the process of execution of constituency projects facilitated by the State legislators through the intervention of the State Government which had helped to complement the education policy of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration through the construction of more infrastructure in the schools across the State.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Okewole reiterated the board’s readiness at ensuring the implementation of education policies formulated by the Federal and State Governments for public primary and junior secondary schools in the State with emphasis on improvement of more infrastructural facilities and necessary instructional materials.
Okewole, who added that the board supervises 1562 primary schools in the State, said that efforts were in top gear to access the Universal Basic Education counterpart fund, explaining that the agency which generated over N16.86m as its revenue surpassing its revenue target put at N16.48 in the approved budget.
