World Bank Project: Ogun Trains LGRC On Project Monitoring
The Ogun State Community And Social Development Agency (CSDP), in conjunction with World Bank Assisted Projects have said that the training of Local Government Review Committee (LGRC) across the six Local Government in the state on important of monitoring the World Bank Projects targeted at the councils is imperative.
The General Manager of the Project, Engr. Sakirudeen Ayinde Salaam stated this at a training of Local Government Renew Committee (LGRC), with the theme “Timely Delivery Of Quality And Sustainable Community Development Plans”, held in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He said that LGRC was an major aspect for the implementation of the World Bank Assisted Projects as they are contributing 10 percent counterpart fund, noting that it was imperative for the LGRC to monitor the project, in order to have a completed and successful project across the local government councils in the state.
“Having gone through the review in assuring that the approval by the World Bank Project is granted, it is imperative to supervise and monitor the project by the LGRC, which is expected to consider the compilation to be approved by the World Bank”, Salaam said.
He implored the LGRC to be up and doing and get ready for the task ahead, noting that sixty (60) micro projects must be delivered by the end of the year, and by the October, cheque would be issued for the project by the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, said the training would boost the LGRC’s moral, as to fully participated in the project monitoring and making sure that it is completed on the scheduled date.
He admonished the member of the LGRC to take the bull by the horn on delivering of the projects, saying that the World Bank has earmarked money for the state to execute the projects.
In the same vein, the Board’s Chairman, Pastor Oladehinde Odeyemi, urged the committees to avert what could tarnish the image of the government, avoid conflict and do the assignment with passions and to the best of their knowledge.
He added that the project would also provide job opportunities to the citizens, he then appreciated the State government for the opportunity given to the citizens, urging the committee to let the projects thoroughly appraised by the World Bank.
Earlier, in her opening speech, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, which Supervising Agency, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi said that the agency would ensure the completion of the projects and efficiency in the discharge of the work and duties.
She implored the committees to engage in qualitative and sustainability of the project which would tally or in line with the government common plan.
The six (6) local government to be benefited from the project now, includes; Odeda, Abeokuta North, Remo North, Ado-Odo/Ota, Yewa North and Ipokia Local Government councils across the state.
