OAU Sex-for-Mark Scandal: Monica Appears Before Panel

Miss Monica Osagie, the lady involved in the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, sex-for-mark scandal Tuesday appeared before the investigative panel set up by the management of the institution.

Monica was accompanied to the venue of the investigation located along the staff quarters of the University by her lawyer, Dr. Abiola Akiode-Afolabi.

Efforts by newsmen to witness the proceeding at the venue proved abortive as journalists were barred from covering it.

Recall that the management of the institution had suspended the lecturer involved following the release of preliminary report of the investigation conducted by the panel.

Prof. Richard Akindele, a senior lecturer at the department of Accounting of the faculty of Administration is standing trial along with Monica Osagie over a released conversation between the two principal actors in the sex-for-mark scandal.

At Tuesday sitting, there was a noticeable heavy presence of security operatives around the sitting venue of the panel.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede who had earlier confirmed the appearance of Monica before the investigative panel noted that her appearance will enable the investigative panel finalize its assignment for the University to take appropriate action.
