OAU Gets New Vice Chancellor
| Dignitaries from all works of life thronged the Oduduwa Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife on Wednesday to witness the inauguration of the 11th Vice Chancellor of the institution Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede. Speaking at the occasion, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adewale Eniitan Ogunwusi who expressed his delight at the transparent emergence of Ogunbodede charged the university community to cooperate with the new Vice Chancellor. He urged every member of the academic community to play their part well to ensure that the new Vice Chancellor succeed in office. The Royal father appreciated the University Governing Council for a job well done in the process of selecting a substantive Vice Chancellor adding that the outgoing Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Elujoba did very well in Office. The Pro. Chancellor, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi noted that the inauguration marked a new era in the history of the institution because it has far-reaching implications. According to him, the selection of Prof. Ogunbodede marks the beginning of healing within the university community adding that he was confident that his installation as substantive VC through a process that has been widely accepted as fair and transparent will usher in a new beginning that would reposition the university. In his acceptance speech, Prof. Ogunbodede who expressed his commitment to lead the university to glory pleaded for the cooperation of the university community to reposition the university. He noted that though the journey was not easy, he thank God that a new era of focus leadership that will not only sustain its leadership status among Nigerian University but herald the university to one of the best University in the world. |
