NRC Resumes Lagos To Kano Train Operations
Two months after suspension of passenger and freight train service due to washout at Ndafun, Niger State, the Nigeria Railway Corporation has announced the commencement of train service from Lagos to Kano.
The Director of Operations, Railway Corporation, Mr. Niki Alli, who made this known in Lagos said a temporary bridge has been built, adding that the first passenger train from Kano to Lagos arrived Thursday and will depart Lagos for Kano today.
He assured Muslims preparing for the Eid- El- Kabir festival that the corporation is prepared to convey them to their various destinations.
Although the suspension of train service impacted negatively on the Corporation’s revenue, Alli pointed out that there were other train services like Karina to Abuja, Lagos to Ilorin and Port-Harcourt to Aba.
He also posited that the Corporation has resumed goods train service and that all the backlog of goods will be moved to their destinations.

Alli added that Corporation is refurbishing some of its Wagons and Coaches so as enhance its capacity.
Regarding the Abuja- Kaduna Standard gauge Railway lines, he said that the Federal Executive Council has approved fund for importation of Coaches that will arrive the country before the end of this year.
He noted that part of the rationale for the planned concession is to enhance the capacity of the Corporation and by extension, increase capacity to convey passengers and freight.
