NPA Synergises With WISTA For Greater Efficiency

The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala-Usman, has sought for improved unity and collaboration amongst the womenfolk in all endeavors of life, particularly the Maritime sub sector with a view to achieving improved excellence and greater efficiency towards nation building.

According to Hadiza, the sector has been dominated by the men spanning many years.

Recent developments through appointments of women at leadership levels  of several corporate entities by government across the nation has further brought to the front burner the potentials in women and relative associations through networking and capacity building.

Hadiza made this statement when she played host to the Executive members of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association [WISTA] led by its President Mary Madu Hamman at her office at the Corporate Headquarters Marina , Lagos.

She further asserted that the NPA Management would ensure that such Women groups like Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association WISTA are supported in the area of capacity building and networking. It assured the gathering of Management’s support through sponsorship of some of its delegates to its forthcoming Conference to further boast and widen the International horizon in business networking.

Earlier in her opening address, Mrs Hamman stated that the Organization with branches all over the world was established in the United Kingdom about 34 years ago.The Nigerian branch came on board in 1984.Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association.

She stated that Nigeria has the largest number of members in the 14 strong Africa countries notable amongst are, South Africa, Morocco,Mozambique,and Guinea Conakry.

As part of its commitment towards empowering the womenfolk towards self-development and reliance, the group recently embarked in the purchase of fishing boats and nets for women in Epe and Oron. Plans are at the advance stage towards doing same for women in Agulere and beyond

She solicited for NPA Management’s collaboration to support the sponsorship of the group’s aspirations.
