The Management and Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) commiserated with the Cross Rivers State Government and families of people who lost their lives in the unfortunate fire incident which occurred at the Line Oil and Gas Tank Farm located at the Calabar Free Trade Zone facility on Sunday, July 16th, 2017.

Meanwhile, the Authority has commenced an investigation into the sad event with the aim of working with Stakeholders to prevent a recurrence of such events in the future.

The Management therefore reiterates the strategic place of the dictates of health, safety, security and environmental concerns, adding that regulations in tandem with best practices should be adhered to strictly henceforth.

Management also commends the courageous efforts of the NPA and Calabar Free Trade Zone firemen, who put their lives on the line to prevent the spread of the terrible inferno. This is addition to the deployment of our Tug Boat MV Zaria that provided support from the waterfront.

The Organization assures Stakeholders that it would continue to uphold the importation of global best practices in repositioning the economy of this great country.
