NLC To Picket Anti Workers Organisations
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday said that it has concluded plan to picket anti workers organisations across the 36 states of the country.
The President of the NLC, Comrade Ayuba Waba disclosed this at a press conference in Lagos to commence the 2017 edition of the ‘World Day For Decent Work’ celebration.
Waba, who was represented by his vice, Adelegan Solomon, said that the action became inevitable because of employers’ continued use of casualization as a form of work in several work places.
He said, “The Congress leadership and workers are paying visits to picket Chi Nigeria limited , Namoh Nig Ltd, Orange Drugs, Ilupeju, MTN Nigeria in Abuja and Abuja Environmental Protection Board on Friday to further sensitize workers on their rights.
“The picketing will be done in batches and will be a continuous exercise. Therefore, I advise employers that engage in the violation of worker’s rights and casualization to desist forth with without further delay or attract the wrath of the working people”.
According to him, it is unacceptable to the NLC that running of organizations would be realized at the expense of the sweat and pains of Nigerian workers, adding that the employers dehumanise the workers by forcing them to accept casual work patterns.
NLC warned the organisations against persistent practice of casualization of the workforce, saying it amounts to degradation of the workers.
