Nigeria Football Supporters Club Honours Akeredolu, Wife

The Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and his Wife, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu were honoured by the Nigerian Football Supporters club as Patron and Matron of the club respectively.

The 62 years old club is saddled with the responsibility of giving the much needed moral support to the Nigerian Super Eagles and the other National team whenever and wherever they are playing football.

They group who spoke through its president general Dr Rafiu Ladipo said that the honour is reserved for few Nigerians for their love and immerse contribution towards development of sporting activities in Nigeria.

In his words “Supporters Club don’t just give out awards, supporters club don’t just appoint Patrons and Matrons, they only identify those who merit them, so today we have come to confirm that you merit being our Matron.

He continued “At the Executive level since last year we were thinking of who and who this honour should be vested on, about three months ago your name kept ringing on a daily basis when we hold our meetings because when the World Cup is approaching we hold meetings everyday, at that point we had no option because it was a unanimous decision of the board and executive to vest this honour on you and our amiable Governor.

Ladipo described support sports received from the Akeredolu led Administration as invaluable and encouraged them to do more.

The President General further revealed that the Nigeria Football supporters club has its chapters across Nigeria and all other countries of the world.

Receiving the supporters club at the Government house Akure, Ondo State First Lady, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, expressed pleasure on the honour done them and pledged the Akeredolu administration’s continued support to sporting activities.

Mrs Akeredolu advised the supporters club to take advantage of football which she said is a unifying factor that promotes unity across Nigeria to build a united Nigeria of our dream.

Mrs Akeredolu also charged them to motivate Nigerian Super Eagles to victory in the forthcoming world cup tournament holding in Russia this year.
