Niger sets up 16-man committee on TV, Radio projects

The Niger State Government on Tuesday inaugurated a 16-man project monitoring committee to see to the success of the ongoing Radio and Television projects in the State.
While inaugurating the committee, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Jonathan Vatsa, said the state-owned media will not be left behind in terms of digitalisation.
Vatsa said: “We have confidence in you so that our people can get the best.
“As a government, we trust that you will give us the best.
“This is part of our effort to fast track the installation of digital equipment.
“We want to leave a legacy behind and not be left behind in the digitalisation process.
“We call on you for this assignment because for over 16 years now, the state-owned radio and television have been in bad shape, but Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has deemed it fit to put them back alive.
“We want the people to know that we do not have anything to hide in this government.
“There must be something very unique in you to have been selected.
“So give your best so that we can all make history.”
Speaking on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Umar Adamu Sanda, assured that the committee will work in earnest and then visit Plateau and Nasarawa States to compare what they have.
Sanda added: “The composition of the committee is made up of people who are tested and trusted.
“With the category of persons, I can assure you that the government will get the best because we will take the job seriously so that we can be part of history.”
