Death Of Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed: MURIC Commiserates With Shari’ah Council
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commisserated with the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) over the demise of its scribe, Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed. He died yesterday, Tuesday, 6th October, 2026 at the age of 70.
A statement signed on Wednesday, 7th October, 2026 by Professor Ishaq Akintola, the Executive Director of MURIC, described the erstwhile Secretary general of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) as a famous, influential and highly respected Islamic scholar of our time.
The statement reads:
”The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed, died yesterday, Tuesday, 6th October, 2026. He was 70 years old.
”Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed was a most detribalised Nigerian. He had friends and associates in all four corners of the country. Frank and fearless, justice and fairness were the cornerstones of his entire life.
”He devoted his life to the service of Islam and humanity. Generous to a fault, he freely and willingly gave priviledges to others even at his own inconvenience. His piety knew no bounds.
*”MURIC commiserates with the leadership of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) as well as the entire Muslim Ummah. He will be missed by all.*
”May Almighty Allah forgive him and have mercy on him. May he be registered among the fortunate inmates of al-jannah firdaus in the Hereafter. May Allah give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and put them under His divine umbrella every hour of the day.”
