Moji Olaiya Buried In Lagos Amidst Tears, Eulogy
Popular Nollywood actress Moji Olaiya was Wednesday buried amidst tears and eulogy at the Ikoyi Vault Cemetery, Lagos.
She was dressed in white in a casket as prayers were offered for the repose of her souls at the Ebony funeral parlour at the cemetery.
A good number of her colleagues, friends and family members wept profusely at the funeral.
Keji Yusuf, an actress said that Moji was like a daughter to her, stating that she will surely be missed.
“She is fun to be with. Her good smile, gentle manner, soft way of speaking will endear her to you. She was a nice and respectful person.’’
Yusuf consoled Olaiya’s family, especially the mother to look up to God for help to train the children the actress left behind. She also advised Olaiya’s mother not to wait for anyone’s promises because they might not fulfill them.
An artistes’ night was held in her honour the day before and a great number of her colleagues and friends came to pay tribute to Moji Olaiya at Blue Roof event centre in the LTV8 Complex.
Ifa promoter and actor, Chief Yemi Elebuibon eulogized the lady which many have spoken well of as caring and humble.
Mercy Aigbe and Muyiwa Ademola said their hearts go to the family she left behind especially her mother.
Muyiwa Ademola added that aside prayers being made to ward off untimely death among actors, they were in touch with an insurance company for a comprehensive health package that will ensure the wellbeing of actors are being taken care of.
Veteran actors within the Yoruba movie circles, Adebayo Salami, Elesho, Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Yinka Quadri, Fala including waka queen Salawa Abeni were all present to pay their last respect to the actress.
Popular singer and erstwhile movie marketer, Bayo Adewusi moved hearts to tears when all those involved in the burial committee stepped onto the stage with Lanre Teriba and sang a dirge song in honour of the departed.
Tears ran down the cheeks of Bimbo Oshin, Ronke Oshodi-Oke and a few others who were on stage.
Moji Olaiya, 42 who became popular after her role in Wale Adenuga Productions, Super Story series, ‘No Pain, No Gain’, was indeed was honoured in death. The FCT Command of the Nigeria Police in 2015 also honoured her as a role model for youths.
Contrary to reports that Moji was the daughter of the Nigerian highlife maestro, Victor Olaiya, she is a niece to the musician.
Moji died on May 17, following a cardiac arrest, three months after she was delivered of a baby girl in Canada. She is survived by an aged mother and two daughters.
