Mob Kills Man For Stealing Commercial Motorcycle In Ogun

 Irate mob in Abeokuta, the Ogun state on Sunday killed a man for allegedly dispossessing a commercial motorcyclist popularly called okada of his motorcycle at gun point.

It was learnt that the incident occurred at Abule – Ijaye area of Abeokuta metropolis, attracted huge crowd who gathered at the scene to rescue the “okada” man  after he had been shot by the robber.

The suspect had allegedly pretended as a passenger, flagged down the motorcyclist before he brought out a locally made pistol with which he used to disposes his victim identified as Toyin Ayoade of the “okada”.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said the victim, Toyin, struggled with the suspect who later shot him on the hand and took possession of the motorcycle.

The victim however, made distress call to the people of the community who later gave the suspect hot chase.

Oyeyemi stated further that while the suspect was running away with the bike, he fell into a ditch where he hit his head on a concrete culvert and died on the spot.

According to the PPRO, items recovered from the suspect included one locally made double barrel pistol, two live cartridges and the snatched motorcycle, while the police also took the victim, Toyin to a hospital for treatment.

In a related development, police in Ogun command also arrested two suspects who specialised in robbing people of their motorcycle and taken such motorcycle to Benin republic for sale.

The suspects, identified as 30 years old Evans Ajaho and Isaiah Aigba, 21 were arrested at a village in Odeda local government area of the state following a distress call made to the police in the area after they had snatched a Bajaj motorcycle at Alabata area of the community on the 25th April, 2018.

Oyeyemi further explained that the duo of Evans and Aigba were arrested after the police had mounted surveillance at the exit points in the area while the motorcycle was also recovered.
