Midnight Fire Kills 4 Children In Zamfara

A midnight fire outbreak has killed four children in the home of a driver attached to the Zamfara State Government House, Gusau, the Department of Fire Service in the state said on Wednesday.

The Deputy Director of Fire Service in the state, Abdullahi Jibo, who confirmed the sad incident, said that the outbreak occurred at Awala Filin-Jirgi in Gusau metropolis.

Mr. Jibo said that four children, comprising two boys and two girls, lost their lives in the incident which occurred on Tuesday night.

The official lamented that the fire had already gutted the entire premises before the fire men could render any help.

Jibo said, “We received distress calls from the area on the fire around 10.00 p.m.

“Before we got to the place, the fire had already taken over the house; we exhausted four water tankers to control the disaster,” the fire officer said.

Mr. Jibo, who said that the fire might have been caused by power surge, urged residents in the state to always comply with safety guidelines, to forestall a recurrence of such outbreak.
