Over 300 Ogun Indigenes Benefit From Rotary Club Medical Outreach

In its bid at ensuring that people’s wellness and well-being through medical is achieved, no fewer than 300 people from Abeokuta South Local Government Community benefited from medical outreach organised by Non-Governmental Organization, Rotary Club of Abeokuta Metropolitan, under the aegis of Rotary Club International 

A Community Health Programme which took place at Ake Royal Health Centre/Community, Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State tagged “Rotary Family Health Days” carried out various free services which includes; Polio Immunization, Malaria Screening and Treatment, HIV Testing & Counseling, Hepatitis B&C, Diabetes&Glucose level screening, deworming of children, breast cancer screening, among others.

Speaking at the event, Chairperson, Rotary Family Health Day, Rotarian Bisayo Oyekan-Ogundeji said that the programme was annual event, aimed at saving the lives of the people living with communicable and non-communicable diseases in the community.

According to her, “The Programme, Rotary Family Health Day (RFHD) is one of the largest medical public/private partnerships in the world, with the support and guidance from RFHA, government, the private sector and NGOs built to sustain this valuable health programme. ”

She emphasised that the programme had created awareness for the people to know their health status and providing solution to their health challenges.

Lending his voice, the past President, Rotary Club of Abeokuta Metropolitan, Rotarian Aremu Babatunde indicated that the programme was one the pillars of the organization, providing free healthcare services to the people in the community with no charges attached or attracted.

Babatunde reiterated that people’s wellness in society was their topmost priority, especially for the low income earner, pregnant women, less privileged, indigents, children, and the aged people.

He said, “Rotary Clubs provide an organizational service and work closely with National, Community Health Officials and NGOs to provide the medical services free of charge for the poor people within the community.”

The Public Health Physician, Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Rotarian Adedayo Oludolamu applauded the beneficiaries for the large turnout, urging them to take good care of their health, seeking medical attention when the need arises.

While appreciating on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mrs Abosede Kehinde and Mr Kamorudeen Olaleye hailed the organization for the initiative, promised to use the drugs being given as prescribed.
