Matawalle Commissions 20 Unit Staff Accommodation Built By DIA In Nyanya
…Charges Beneficiaries to Ensure Proper Maintenance
The Minister of State for Defence H. E. Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has commissioned a Block of 20 One-Bedroom Staff Accommodation constructed by the Defence Intelligence Agency, DIA, in Nyanya, Abuja.
The commissioning is in line with the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Renewed Hope Administration to address accommodation deficit and improve the welfare of personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Speaking as Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Matawalle said decent and comfortable accommodation for officers and men remains a priority of the Federal Government. He noted that quality housing would enhance the welfare, morale, operational efficiency, and dedication to duty of personnel.
“Accommodation remains one of the most critical needs of our personnel. A comfortable home is not a luxury but a necessity. It provides peace of mind, enhances morale, and improves efficiency and dedication to duty,” the Minister stated.
He commended the Chief of Defence Intelligence, *Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye*, for the initiative, describing it as a laudable intervention and a reflection of remarkable achievements recorded by the Agency under his leadership.
The Minister expressed appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his consistent support to the Armed Forces and for prioritizing troops’ welfare and operational effectiveness.
As the supervising Minister of the Defence Intelligence Agency, Dr. Matawalle reassured the Agency of the Ministry’s continuous support in advancing its mandate and delivering on national security objectives.
He further charged beneficiaries and occupants of the newly commissioned accommodation to ensure its proper maintenance, stressing that responsible use would guarantee its longevity and continued service to personnel.
The Minister later unveiled the facility by cutting the ceremonial tape and conducted an inspection of the newly remodelled accommodation.
In his welcome remarks, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. Gen. Undiandeye, expressed gratitude to the Minister for personally commissioning the project, describing his presence as a demonstration of commitment to the welfare of DIA personnel.
Lt. Gen. Undiandeye also conveyed appreciation to President Tinubu for his support to the Defence Intelligence Agency and reaffirmed the loyalty and commitment of the Management and Personnel of the Agency to the service of the nation.
The event was attended by the Coordinator, Defence Intelligence Agency Officers’ Wives Association, *Mrs. Jane Undiandeye*, Directors of the Agency, Senior Military and Civilian Staff, Regimental Sergeant Majors, RSMs, Soldiers, and other staff of the Agency.
