Manager Docked For Alleged Theft Of N10.3m Aviation Fuel
Men of Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) of Nigeria Police Force, Ikoyi-Lagos, Tuesday, arraigned a depot manager with Cita Petroleum Limited, Adebunmi Oladapo Olawuyi, before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, on alleged theft of the total sun of N10.373, 470 million, belonging to his employer.
The police lawyer, Mr. Chukwu Agwu, while arraigning the defendant today, told the court that defendant, while acting as the  depot manager of Murtala Murtala Mohammed, branch between May and June 2019, stole 38, 000 litres of Aviation Turbine kerosine, popularly called Jet A1, valued N9.5 million,  belonging to the company.
Apart from the said product, Agwu also the court that the defendant also stole cash sum of N873, 470, 00, belonging to the company represented by Barrister Seyi Awodugba.
The said offences according to the police lawyer are contrary to Sections 280(1) (b), 281(1) & (2) punishable under Section 287(8) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following his not guilty plea, the presiding Magistrate, Mr. Alogba, admitted him to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Alogba also ordered that the two sureties must be residents of Lagos State, with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government. While adding that all the bail terms must be verified by the prosecution.
The Magistrate, while adjourning the matter till October 7, for mention, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody till the fulfilment of the bail terms.
