Man Docked For Stealing 10 Pieces Of Kolanut In Osun

For allegedly stealing 10 pieces of kolanut pod, an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ipetumodu on Wednesday, docked 20-year-old Babalola Ayo.

Ayo who was not legally represented in court however pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, entering and stealing slammed on him.

The Prosecutor, Sgt Irewole Jimoh, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug 22, 2019 around 2:00 pm at Isope Farm via Ipetumodu.

Jimoh said that the defendant unlawfully entered into the farm land of one Amusan James and one Moses Onah with intent to commit felony therein.

He added that the defendant stole four bunches of plantain, valued N6,000, property of one  Amusan James.

According to him, the defendant also stole 10 pods of kolanut, valued 1,000 and quantity of pepper valued N1,000, property of one Moses Onah.

The prosecutor stated further that the offence contravened sections 81, 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.

Magistrate Habibat Basiru granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties responsible in like amount.

Basiru added that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, resides within the court jurisdiction as well as produce three recent passport photographs each as he adjourned the case until Sept 30, for hearing.
