Man Docked Over Alleged Travelling Visa Fraud In Osun
The Osun State police command yesterday arraigned one Ilori Adebiyi, at an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, Ile-Ife, for alleged travelling visa fraud.
Adebiyi, 48, who agreed to face prosecution in the court, however pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of fraud and stealing proferred against him.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Sunday Osanyintuyi had told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 23, 2017, at Mayfair area in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Osanyintuyi said that the accused obtained the sum of N340,000 from one Okitikpi Sunday under the pretence of securing Travelling Visa for him, which he failed to do.
His charge sheet read in part: ” that, you, Ilori Adebiyi, did steal the sum of N340,000 from one Okitikpi Sunday by converting same to your own use”.
The prosecutor insisted that the offence contravened section 383, 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
His Counsel however pleaded that his client be granted bail in liberal terms with a promise of reliable surety.
Magistrate Dorcas Ajiboye granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Ajiboye ruled that the sureties should swear to affidavits of means and must show evidence of payment of three years tax clearance as part of conditions for the bail as she adjourned until Nov 24, for hearing.
